<p>The Blancos have been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/easier-go-madrid-mbappe-explains-snub-real-stay-psg/blt3e6a03dff1e957bf" target="_blank">heavily linked with the France international forward for several years</a>, but missed out on his signature when a move to Paris Saint-Germain was made in 2017. They have also failed to put a deal in place across recent windows, despite having <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-laughed-at-psg-250m-asking-price-kylian-mbappe-spending-limit-transfer-package/blt69e082dd9686b53f" target="_blank">offers of €200 million (£174m/$212m) plus on the table</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Mbappe has, however, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/genius-marquinhos-wants-kylian-mbappe-stay-psg-real-madrid-transfer-talk/bltfde8b7f50afdd3d6 " target="_blank">stopped short of signing another new contract at PSG</a>, meaning that he could become a free agent next summer. La Liga president Tebas expects that situation to play into Real’s hands, telling <a href="https://twitter.com/MovistarFutbol/status/1706359379472118264 " target="_blank"><em>Movistar+</em></a> when asked about welcoming another World Cup winner to Spain: “Convinced, no, but it is a destiny for him, for sure. I think he will be in La Liga next season at 70 or 80 per cent.”</p>

<p>Blancos president Perez is famed for his <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/erling-haaland-kylian-mbappe-vinicius-jr-real-madrid-julio-baptista-why-florentino-perez-reform-galacticos/bltc906ab1a09494a07 " target="_blank">Galacticos recruitment policy</a> – having signed the likes of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo in the past – and Tebas added on why <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/kylian-mbappe-transfer-real-madrid-will-happen-president-florentino-perez/blt72fb91ef80767e9e" target="_blank">Mbappe is likely to end up at Santiago Bernabeu</a> when discussing future transfers and the contentious European Super League plans that Real have played a prominent part in: “Florentino never loses, he doesn’t lose at anything.”</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Mbappe has admitted in the past that Real would be a dream club for him and he has already made history at PSG – becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer – to suggest that a new challenge will be sought at some stage in the near future.</p>
