They are nine points adrift of leaders Norwich City, nevertheless, the 29-year-old feels they can climb to the summit of the league provided they maintain their recent impressive run, starting with Sunday's tie against Birmingham City.
"I look at this team compared to others in the Championship – we should be up there,” Bolasie told club website.
"We need to maintain the standard we set at Derby. I'm confident we can. I've been playing against our players for years – we're a top two squad. It's up to us to go and deliver on that now.
"It says a lot that I was enjoying the Derby performance just sitting on the bench. We've set a standard now.
"Let's hope we can take the quality we showed last time around into this weekend now.
"I've only ever seen the Blues derby on television, so I'm looking forward to it immensely."
Bolasie has scored two goals in 10 substitute appearances and provided the assist for their opener against Derby last time out.
"I'm enjoying my football again now, as well as my environment. It's starting to show on the pitch,” he continued.
"The change in Head Coach has been good for me. It's a different style, but it suits me down to a tee and
"It shows another side to my game – that I can get back and forth down the wing.
"I'm enjoying it, and I can't wait to really get going. I'm nearly there and I'm feeling better all the time."
