Our tipster thinks that the defending World champions will once again establish themselves as Europe's top performing team at this summer's tournament

No fewer than 14 European teams are heading for Russia, dreaming of World Cup glory.

Heavyweights France, Spain and defending champions Germany feature prominently in the outright market and are expected to enjoy an extended run in the competition.

Belgium, European champions Portugal and, of course, England are amongst the other sides hoping to make a big impression - but which nation will be Europe's top team this summer?

Germans to defend their crown?

Joachim Low's side have not enjoyed their usual serene preparations for this competition, for Die Mannschaft have won just one of their last six matches - their final World Cup warm-up against Saudi Arabia.

However, a second-string Germany won the Confederations Cup in Russia last summer - an outcome that underlines the depth of quality that the German boss has at his disposal and, accordingly, Die Mannschaft are chalked up as dabblebet's 11/4 (3.75) favourites to be the top European team in Russia this summer.

France and Spain set for a bold bid?

France, beaten finalists at the European Championships two years ago, are a 7/2 (4.50) chance to be the best of the European challengers, while 2010 World Cup winners Spain are a 4/1 (5.0) shot to be the continent's top dogs.

Lively outsiders

Belgium are expected to seriously contend for their first major championships title, with players of the calibre of Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne amongst the star-studded squad set to line up for Roberto Martinez's men.

The Red Devils, however, regularly underperform at major championships and that is perhaps reflected by dabblebet's 7/1 (8.0) quote for Belgium to be the top European team.

England have reached the semi-finals just once since winning the World Cup in 1966 and dabblebet offer 10/1 (11.0) that Gareth Southgate's side outperform their continental counterparts this summer.

Portugal will hope to build on their sensational triumph at the European Championships two years ago and Fernando Santos' side are chalked up as a 14/1 (15.0) chance to be Europe's top team in Russia - although the manager has suggested that his side must improve on their current form if they are to stand a chance of securing the silverware.

Hosts set to struggle?

Russia are a 22/1 (23.0) shot to be the continent's top performing nation, a price that reflects the poor results and performances of Stanislav Cherchesov's side in recent months.

Tips and predictions:

Germany look likely to go close to retaining their World Cup crown this summer and the 11/4 (3.75) quote for Low's side to be the top European team in Russia could represent good value for punters.
