The midfielder has been a star turn for Wolves since joining from Porto last summer in a £15.8m switch and his performances have caught the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs, with City having considered a move before the close of the transfer window and reports suggesting Manchester United are also interested.
So far this campaign, he has played every minute of Wolves’ Premier League season and has registered one goal and one assist in seven outings.
“Ruben Neves is already being hunted by big clubs all over Europe and has been linked with some astronomical fees,” Lescott told Bwin.
“Wolves have flatly rejected any notion that he may leave the club and that’s the right move, because he has been a huge star since he arrived.
“Hopefully he can stay healthy, because he will be crucial to Wolves achieving their ambitions this season.”
Last year’s Championship winners are enjoying their first season back in the Premier League since 2012 and currently sit ninth after seven games.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has selected the same XI in every game so far this campaign and Wolves have already showed they are capable of mixing it with the league’s big sides by earning draws against both Manchester clubs this season.
“I’ve been really impressed with Nuno,” said Lescott.
“He has achieved everything the club would have hoped to achieve by earning a spot in the Premier League and starting as well as they have done.
“I remember there was a lot of scepticism when he was appointed, pointing to his lack of experience in England, but they’re eating humble pie right now.
“He has created a culture and style of play which is working, and there’s no sign of that stopping now Wolves are in the Premier League.”
The former Everton and Manchester City centre-back believes that, much like Neves, Santo may be on the radar of England’s elite sides.
“I think bigger clubs will be keeping an eye on Nuno and what he is doing at Wolves,” he said.
“The club gave him the opportunity and he grasped it with both hands, getting fantastic results and looking good while doing it.”
