Wazito to wait for fate in remaining two matches after losing to Kariobangi Sharks

Kariobangi Sharks compounded Wazito’s relegation woes after a 2-1 win in a match played Machakos Stadium.

Edwin Lavatsa put some hopes on Wazito’s chances of escaping relegation but Harrison Mwendwa spoiled the party with a late match winning goal that will surely inflict more despair on Wazito.

Wednesday’s defeat means that two more defeats will see the league debutantes relegated to the National Super League. Already Thika United have dropped to the lower division and Wazito, who are lying second from bottom, need nine points in the last three games and hope that Chemelil Sugar, lose six points in order to secure a berth in the relegation play-offs.

Shaphan Oyugi headed Sharks into the lead in the 29th minute after he rose above Wazito defenders to pick a Bolton Omwenga cross that was perfectly delivered from the left.

Wazito have won only six of their last 30 games-against Sony Sugar, Nakumatt, Mathare United, Zoo, Sofapaka, Thika United and AFC Leopards.

Edwin Lavatsa brought the game level with a thunderbolt shot from a quick short corner that gave Gad Mathews little time to make a second decision of parrying the ball to safety.

But Mwendwa scored the match winner in the extra time to dampen the spirit of Wazito with only four minutes left on the clock. Sharks are seventh on the log with 49 points.
