VIDEO: Sydney Leroux scores in NWSL return

After missing time with an injury and then having a child, the USWNT forward notched an early goal in domestic play.

Despite more than two years away, from the field it looks like Sydney Leroux hasn't missed a beat.

The forward put FC Kansas City up early in Sunday evening's match against the Boston Breakers, putting a long ball from defender Becky Sauerbrunn into the back of the net.

Leroux was initially sidelined by an ankle injury and then took time off to have a child. She posted on Instagram that she'd spent 656 days away from the field.

Amy Rodriguez scored early in the second half to put FCKC even further ahead, and the team held on for a 2-0 victory.
