Waruru named Ulinzi Stars best player of the month

Ulinzi Stars striker, Stephen Waruru has scooped the club’s player of the month Awards for May and June.

The Kenyan Premier League top scorer has been enjoying a good run of form which leaves him top of the chart with 10 goals. Waruru saved the face of the soldiers with a brace in Ulinzi’s 2-2 draw with Gor Mahia FC last Sunday in Kisumu, and it was his equalising goal that drew mixed reaction from a section of K’Ogalo fans.

Gor Mahia later accused Waruru of showing their fans his ‘middle finger’ in his celebration. Waruru has since been summoned and is expected to appear before Kenyan Premier League Disciplinary Committee for his conduct in that match after he was adversely mentioned in the referee’s report.

“No matter how people try to pull you down, if your thoughts and deeds are righteous God will exalt you. Counting my blessings one by one,” he said in his official Facebook page after receiving the award, a message that could be interpreted as a direct response to the allegation by Gor Mahia.

“ I can say I have been scoring the goals because of very good team work."
