Vidal completes €8.5m return to Sevilla from Barcelona

Aleix Vidal has completed his return to Sevilla from Barcelona, with the deal worth €8.5 million (£8m/$10m) and a further €2m in variables.

The 28-year-old headed back to his native Catalunya in 2015 after one productive season at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

A transfer embargo at Camp Nou delayed his debut, while he then faced fierce competition for places.

After taking in 51 outings for Barca, Vidal has now decided to take in a second spell with Sevilla.

A statement released on Barca’s official website read: “FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Aleix Vidal. Sevilla FC will pay FC Barcelona 8.5 million euros, plus 2m in variables.

“FC Barcelona expresses its gratitude to Aleix Vidal for his commitment and dedication and wishes him every success in the future.

“The player from Puigpelat ends his time at Barca after three seasons, from 2015/16 to 2017/18, and returns to the club he was signed from.”

While Vidal struggled for regular starts throughout his time at Camp Nou, he did collect a healthy haul of major honours.

In total, he formed part of eight trophy triumphs at Barca.

As a result, his CV now includes two La Liga titles, three Copas del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, a Club World Cup and a European Super Cup.

Vidal had already tasted Europa League success with Sevilla in the past so will be hoping for more of the same after returning to Andalusia.
