Ulinzi Stars are confident of ending a trophy drought campaign by winning one in the 2018 season.
Club chairman Lt Col Erick Oloo has stated that the team has prepared well and is in great shape to challenge for trophies in all fronts.
Ulinzi Stars finished 7th last season on 48 points from 34 matches and Lt Col Oloo acknowledges that the performance was below expectation, which informed the transfer activity ahead of the new campaign.
While the club saw the exit of two key players, Steven Waruru and Samuel Onyango, six players have come on board and Lt Col Oloo is confident they will fit in well and help in the quest for silverware.
“Last year we did not do well like we had expected but we have done well in terms of recruitment so whatever gaps that were there are sealed to see that we win silverware this year and the new players we have brought in have the capability and capacity to do the job,” Oloo told the club’s official website.
Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo will have defenders Boniface Andayi, George Omondi and Milton Wafula; strikers Masita Masuta and Michael Kahindi; and Oscar Njika, a midfielder, as the new additions to the team.
The chairman believes a good start to the season will be the perfect tonic for a great season. “The coach has worked on the team well in preseason and though we still have some work to do before the season kicks in, I’m confident we will be ready and we will get off to a good start.”
Ulinzi Stars will open their league campaign against Zoo Kericho this weekend.
