Ulinzi Stars coach Dunstan Nyaudo has conceded that they did not deserve to lose against Sony Sugar on Sunday.

Despite dominating the game, the soldiers were undone in a 1-0 defeat at Awendo Green Stadium. Nyaudo has now called on his players not to let the defeat blur their focus of what awaits them in the season.

The coach admitted his players were crushed by the result, and termed it an unfair reflection of the match but called on them to take lessons from it and move as fast as possible with focus on recovering in the next match.

“I honestly don’t know what to say about that game. Such are the times I don’t even know how to lift my players from this. It was a very unfair result considering the way my boys played,” Nyaudo told the club’s official website.

“They (opponents) got just one chance and punished us yet we had at least four clear ones and didn’t utilize them; that is the game of football at times – you must accept these things.”

Nyaudo blamed his wing backs for allowing Sony Sugar to score the lone goal that handed his team the first defeat of the season.  “The lapses that we had observed in the previous game were not there and that was positive.

“The defence worked so well, our midfield too, only for that one mistake from the wingback that came to heavily cost us. It is unfortunate but I cannot blame the boys, they did well.”
