Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane has warned Bloemfontein Celtic ahead of their Telkom Knockout Cup Last 16 encounter next weekend.

'Mshishi' says the Brazilians want to win the match and has banked on the quality in their squad to lead the team all the way to the final.

“It is not about proving a point. We want to win the game. We all know the goal which was deemed to be offside was a clear goal. The fact we are playing them again, we need to win,” Zwane was quoted as saying by IOL.

The two sides will meet for the second time this term. Last time out, Sundowns saw their goal through Lebohang Maboe ruled for offside, but television replays later showed Zwane did not interfere with play.

“If you check, we haven’t won games in a row. That’s something we want to develop now,” added the man who netted a winning goal against AmaZulu on Saturday.

“Each and every cup is very important for us. We will try and push to win the Telkom Knockout. We will work hard to win the cup,” Zwane continued.

Although, coach Pitso Mosimane and his men are fighting to defend the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title, they previously lifted the TKO trophy during the 2015/16 season beating Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

In this season's opening match, the Tshwane giants will face off against a Celtic side led by former Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela.

“We have quality players in the squad to compete on all fronts. We need to compete. We will win some of the cups this season,” Zwane expressed.

“We have a big squad. We are slowly but surely getting there. Everything is coming alright. We need to gain momentum, and win games consistently,” he responded.

“Injuries have hampered my progress. I’ve missed a number of games for Bafana Bafana and Sundowns,” said the South Africa international.

“I’m back now and fully recovered. I’m ready to rediscover my form,” he concluded.

Moreover, the Brazilians are the only team yet to lose in the league as they have two wins and five draws.

The TKO clash against last season's losing finalists will be staged at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
