Fresh off spoiling Thierry Henry’s managerial debut, Strasbourg striker Lebo Mothiba has revealed his personal and collective targets for the ongoing season.

The 22-year-old scored what proved to be the winner as Henry endured a 2-1 defeat in his first outing as a head coach, with Monaco.

In the 84th minute of the encounter at Stade de la Meinau, and with Thierry Laurey's side a goal ahead already, the former Valenciennes forward lashed onto a visionary Kenny Lala pass before applying a deft chip over an onrushing Seydou Sy - one the Arsenal icon would be proud of - to double his side’s lead.

The audacious effort was the player’s - who scored once for Lille before his switch after three 2018-19 league outings - seventh of the season for club and country.

Also, such form has seen ex-South Africa striker Shaun Bartlett back him to shine 'in any big league in Europe', with his valuation believed to be worth 'over 20 million Euros'.

His aim, however, to continue his goalscoring spree to eclipse last season’s haul of 16 also includes helping seventh-placed Le Racing maintain their top-flight status.

“I am here to help the club to stay in Ligue 1 first‚ because you know it is their second year in the top league‚” Mothiba told TimesLIVE.

“I want to make everybody happy‚ the players‚ the fans‚ the coach‚ but for me as a striker when the team buys you‚ it means you have to score goals.

“I would like to beat my total last season‚ which was 16 goals when you count the goals I scored for Valenciennes‚ Lille and the national team.

"I am working hard to do the same thing this season at my new club.”

Mothiba will hope to continue in his element when Strasbourg visit Guingamp for a league game on Saturday.
