“Rangers can today [Tuesday] announce the signing of Lassana Coulibaly on a season-long loan from French side Angers, subject to international clearance,” read a statement on club website.

“The 22-year-old makes an exciting eighth addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad as the manager strengthens his midfield options even further.

“The Mali international arrives in Glasgow as a talented prospect who has been a mainstay in Ligue 1 for the past three seasons despite his young age.”

Gerrard will be able to add Coulibaly to his Europa League squad, as they begin their qualifying campaign against Macedonian outfit, FK Shkupi on Thursday.

Also, the Ibrox side hope to wrap a loan deal for Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar - who has been left of AS Roma’s preseason plans - before Thursday.

They are allowed to register players to their European squad at least 24 hours before the first leg of their first qualifying round clash.
