It is fair to say that the recent World Cup campaign did not go according to plan for Spain, with the side knocked out by hosts Russia in the round of 16. Now, with the domestic season set to get underway, the Catalan giants will want to underline the dominance that they demonstrated throughout the previous season.

First things first

As a new customer and with several major European leagues preparing for kick off, there should be a whole host of offers on the table for you.

Where can I win money in this tie?

In his first season as Barcelona boss, Ernesto Valverde exceeded expectations. The Catalan club came excruciatingly close to ending the season unbeaten, before they were defeated by Levante on the final day of the league season.

Nevertheless, Barça won the league at a relative canter. They finished a huge 14 points in front of second placed Atletico Madrid whereas Sevilla, their opponents in the Spanish Super Cup, were merely a speck in the distance, finishing down in seventh.

Despite eliminating Manchester United from the UEFA Champions League, Sevilla’s domestic campaign was ultimately a disappointing one, finishing down in seventh place, behind the likes of Villarreal and great rivals Real Betis.

Furthermore, they finished a barely believable 35 points behind Barcelona, their opponents in the cup. It is therefore easy to understand why it is the Catalans who come into this tie as the clear favourites to win the match and the first silverware of the season.

Barça are priced at just 1.57 to win the Spanish Super Cup. Sevilla, by way of comparison, are out at 5.50 to shock Barcelona and take the trophy, according to Oddsshark.

However, it is the first game of the season and admittedly there may be doubts about how the sides will start, whether there is any off-season rust, even of an outfit as well oiled as Barcelona.

You may therefore wish to go for the “Double Chance” option, which allows you to gamble on two possible outcomes for the match rather than just one. In that way, your chances of winning are also doubled.

Do you think Sevilla will win or the tie will end in a draw? Then you can back those two possible outcomes at a price of 2.40, which would more than double your money.

The price for a Barcelona win or a draw is much shorter, however, at just 1.16. And you can back either side to pick up the win at 1.25, which offers shorter odds – remember, the more specific your bets, the higher the potential pay outs go.

The way Barcelona play is of course well documented, and we could well see goals in this tie. While it is never an easy ask to predict the exact score in any given game, a 2-1 win for Barcelona is priced competitively at 8.50, offering close to a ten-fold return on any investment.

Barça scored 99 goals last season at a rate of over 2.5 goals per game and we could see the same in this curtain raiser. A rate of over 2.5 goals in this game is priced at 1.53, while under 2.5 goals is further out at 2.40.

The Catalans, meanwhile, will surely look to exert their authority from the very off and come racing out of the blocks. Sevilla, who managed a 2-2 draw with Barcelona last term after conceding two late goals, may well have trouble containing their more illustrious opponents.

Barcelona are at 6.00 to be leading after only 10 minutes. Sevilla are at almost double that price at 11.00, while you can bet on it being level after 10 minutes at just 1.22.

Of course, for someone to take the lead so early on in the game would mean the deadlock being broken. You can almost quadruple any investment by backing over 0.5 goals to be scored in the first 10 minutes, at 3.75. The safer bet of under 0.5 goals so early in the contest is at the far shorter price of 1.25, but this is a game Barcelona should really win with relative ease.

Odds: Sevilla (5.50), Barcelona (1.57), draw (4.00)
