La Roja are unbeaten in the 18 matches they have played since Euro 2016 and we are backing them to claim another win this weekend in Villarreal

Spain's final game on home soil before heading to Russia next week is at Villarreal's Estadio de la Ceramica against fellow World Cup qualifiers Switzerland.

Hopes are high for Julen Lopetegui's side with the coach yet to taste defeat since taking over from Vicente Del Bosque after Euro 2016. The Swiss meanwhile will feel they have an outside chance of advancing from their group at the tournament, and 13 wins from their last 15 games in all competitions shows they must be taken seriously.

Latest odds

bet365 price La Roja at 1/3 (1.33) to record another win on Sunday evening, while Switzerland are priced at 11/1 (12.00) and the draw is available at 10/3 (4.33). The Alpine nation famously beat Spain the last time they met at the 2010 World Cup, a competition the Spaniards would go on to win.

Team news

Dani Carvajal picked up an injury in last weekend's Champions League final with Real Madrid and will not be available. The right-back is still expected to feature at the World Cup. Lopetegui has a decision to make at centre-forward for the Switzerland game and indeed for the tournament with Diego Costa, Iago Aspas and Rodrigo Moreno all vying for a starting berth.

Swiss coach Vladmir Petkovic has announced a preliminary 26-man squad for the tourament, but that will need to be trimmed down and Sunday's game could help the Bosnian manager make some decisions.Granit Xhaka has been ruled out of the game after sustaining a knee injury in training. The Arsenal midfielder still hopes to be fit for the World Cup, though.

Spain's form in qualifying for the World Cup was impeccable and their 6-1 thrashing of Argentina in their last friendly match back in March sent something of a message to watching world. In friendlies Spain have recorded four wins and four draws under Lopetegui claiming some notable scalps including Belgium, France and of course Argentina. There is every chance that La Roja add Switzerland to that list of victories on Sunday night.

Tips and predictions

The price of 9/10 (1.90) for Spain to win with a -1 handicap should appeal and looks like a good way to back the hosts, with this selection paying out in each of Spain's last seven friendly wins.
