Socceroos Watch: Trent Sainsbury strikes on PSV starting debut

The Aussie is settling in at his new club very quickly

Australian defender Trent Sainsbury scored PSV's second goal in a 4-0 win over Excelsior Maassluis in the KNVB Cup.

On his first start for the club, the 26-year-old headed home from close range in the 44th minute for his first club goal since 2016.

Both he and fellow Aussie Aziz Behich, also on his starting debut, played the full 90 minutes as they look to establish themselves in the side.

The duo were left on the bench for PSV's Champions League match against Barcelona and will be eager to grace the competition sooner rather than later.

Elsewhere in the Netherlands, Aussie attacker Denis Genreau came on as substitute in the 61st minute for PEC Zwolle in a 1-0 win over Staphorst.
