The striker secured a temporary move to the St. James’ Park outfit from the Foxes on winter transfer deadline day

Algeria coach Rabah Madjer is optimistic about Islam Slimani’s loan move to Newcastle United.

The striker was afforded limited opportunities at Leicester City this season and opted to team up with Rafa Benitez’s side till the end of the season.

And his national team coach is confident the move would benefit both the player and the struggling Magpies who are two places above the relegation zone.

“He’s a good striker and staying on the bench isn’t good for the head. Slimani is excellent and will do very good things at Newcastle. He may be a talisman,” Madjer told Record .

“[Rafa] Benitez has a lot of experience and will be important on a psychological level. Slimani will solve a big part of Newcastle’s problems.”
