Singida United will host Yanga in the Confederation Cup quarter final tie at the Namfua Stadium without their influential strikers Kambale Salita “Papy Kambale” and Danny Usengimana.
Kambale is ineligible to play in this game because of suspension after receiving a red card in the knock out stage against Polisi Tanzania while Usengimana reportedly left the camp in protest to push for his remaining transfer fees.
This will be the second time for Singida United to host Yanga this season, the first time was in premier league where the two teams played a goalless draw.
However, this will be a tougr game for both sides because one team must book a place in the semi-finals.
Speaking to Goal, Singida United head coach, Hans van Pluijm confessed that his team lack of confidence in front of goal has cost them a lot of points since the beginning of the premier league second round but during the international break he had a chance to train with his players and he is hopeful that they will not repeat the same mistakes.
“We had a problem in front of goal and thats why we had dip in performance in the last five matches, but I have worked hard with the players during the international break and I hope they will deliver on the pitch,” said Pluijm.
Elsewhere, Yanga who were camped in Morogoro for the past five days because of this game will be boosted by the return of strikers Donald Ngoma and Amis Tambwe.
However, it is unlikely that both of them will be included in this match.
Speaking to Goal this week, Yanga assistant Coach Shadrack Nsajigwa said that both Ngoma and Tambwe are training with the rest of the squad but they will not be rushed into action.
“They were out of the action for a long time so it is not a fine move to rush them into the starting line-up, but they are doing well,” said Nsajigwa.
Ibrahim Ajib, Hassan Kessy, Gadiel Michale and Ramadhan Kabwili who were in the National team for International friendlies have all joined the squad in training and they will be able to feature against the Singida based side.
Yanga are favorites to win this title following the shock exit of their arch rival Simba in the early stages of the competition.
The winner between Singida United and Yanga will meet the winner between Tanzania Prison and JKT Tanzania.
