Shabana, Ushuru and Wazito register wins as NSL league resumes

Wazito FC started their campaign in the second tier with a morale boosting 2-0 win against Nairobi City Stars on Sunday.

The team was relegated from the top tier last season after a poor run, but they showed their intention with a perfect display against the city boys. Kennedy Ayako opened the scoring for Wazito in the 78th minute before new signing Eugene Ambulwa sealed the points ten minutes later.

Western-based Green Commandos started the season on a high note after claiming a 2-1 win against visitors Modern Coast. Nsobya Joseph was the first to hit the back of the net in favour of the hosts, but Francis Ochola leveled matters six minutes later.

Francis Mwangi sealed the win for the school boys with about twenty-five minutes to go to ensure a perfect start. On Saturday, Shabana FC announced their return to the National Super League with a 1-0 win against Nakuru based side St Josephs.

A 34th minute Oscar Oketch strike was what the Glamour Boys needed to register their first win in the second tier. Ushuru FC also defeated Migori Youth by the same margin.

The Ken Kenyatta led side scored the goal courtesy of Oscar Mbugua, who capitalized on poor defending. Goals from Peter Wanyonyi and Martin Mutua helped Kenya Police to a 2-1 win against promoted side Fortune Sacco. The latter scored its consolation through Robert Mutua.

In other results, Coast Stima was handed a walk over after Thika United failed to turn up for the match. Kangemi All Stars came from a goal down to defeat Kibera Black Stars 2-1. Eldoret Youth also fell to FC Talanta by 3-1 at the Camp Toyoyo.
