Senegal are considering future bidding for rights to co-host the Afcon with neighbours Gambia.
Senegal Football Federation president Augustin Senghor said a co-hosting bid with Gambia could improve their chances of winning the mandate to host a 24-team Afcon.
Senghor was reported by WiwSport as saying he intends to discuss with his Gambian counterpart Lamin Kaba Bajo for the possibility of a “Senegambia Afcon” bid.
“We want to co-organise Afcon with The Gambia in the future,” Senghor said.
“Caf are now encouraging neighbouring nations to join hands in organising the Africa Cup of Nations after the number of participating countries increased from 16 to 24 countries.”
If Senegal and Gambia goes on with their idea and eventually win the 2025 hosting rights, it would be a fourth straight Afcon to be played in West Africa.
