Adel Amrouche has revealed his interest in taking the Harambee Stars job following the exit of Sebastien Migne.
The French coach parted ways with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Monday, just a week after Kenya failed to go past Tanzania in the two-legged African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifiers, where they lost 4-1 on penalties, to exit the competition.
“Football Kenya Federation and Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne have agreed to terminate the coach’s contract on mutual consent,” said the statement signed by FKF acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barry Otieno.
With the FKF promising to name a new coach in due course, Amrouche - who helped Kenya to clinch the 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup before he was sacked - has exclusively told Goal he will not turn down the offer to coach the Kenyan side for a second time.
“I love Kenya as a country, Kenya is in my blood and why should I turn a chance to come back?” Amrouche told Goal.
“I know there is a vacancy in Kenya but no one has approached me yet, but if they come for my services I will gladly take the offer. I would love to work in Kenya again, it is a beautiful country with very nice people.”
Amrouche, however, revealed he was also waiting for a word from both South Africa and Botswana federations, who have interviewed him for the national team jobs.
“South Africa talked to me in regards to handling Bafana Bafana same as Botswana who also interviewed me a few weeks ago,” Amrouche continued.
“As it stands, I am a free agent and there is nothing wrong if Kenya reaches out to me. I am just waiting to see who calls first and then I will make the decision to move.
“On my free time, I always come to Kenya [travel all the way from Belgium] to watch matches especially when the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) is on. Kenya have good talent if tapped well, the country can go far and even rival the West African nations.”
After losing his job in Kenya, the Belgian lodged a claim with Fifa’s Player Status Committee on March 4, 2016, demanding Sh132 million and an additional Sh5 million compensation for wrongful dismissal by the FKF.
The case is yet to reach a conclusion.
