REVEALED: AFC Leopards head coach Nikola Kavazovic may have gone for good

AFC Leopards may have seen the last of coach Nikola Kavazovic.

The Serbian coach left the country on Sunday to attend to his sick father just a few weeks after he signed to handle the side and also a week to the Kenyan Premier League kick-off.

Though AFC Leopards issued a statement to assure fans that Kavazovic will return to the Den, a source privy to happenings at the club has told Goal that the coach may have gone for good.

“The National Executive Committee would like to assure our members and fans that our head coach, Nikola Kavazovic has asked to be away for some time to attend to family issues back in Serbia.

“In the meantime, his assistant Markov Vasiljevic will jet in town next week in readiness for the league kick off. We urge our fans to exercise patience,” Ingwe said in a statement.

However, the source is not agreeing with the club’s statement. “Kavazovic is gone and will not come back. He left a very unhappy man because he had issues with the top office, who turned against him when he asked that they drop Zambian winger Shadreck Chimanya.

“He was not impressed with the player and reason he wanted him dropped and a replacement found before the season kicks-off, but it seems the office felt betrayed and wanted to keep the player. He was not happy at all and I don’t think he will come back.”

AFC Leopards will face Kariobangi Sharks in the season opener on December 8.
