The Anglo-Nigerian now play in the Scottish top-flight and in Europe under the guidance of former Reds legend Steven Gerrard

Rangers move is a step up from last season's stint at Sunderland for Ovie Ejaria, the on-loan Liverpool player has said.

On Thursday, Ejaria played a starring role in the Europa League to help the Gers to the top of Group G after they secured a 3-1 victory over Rapid Vienna.

The midfielder has become a key member of Steven Gerrard's side after joining on loan from Liverpool in the summer, on the back of a half-season stint with Sunderland in the Championship.

He made 11 league appearances and scored once as the Black Cats drifted further into oblivion, crashing into the League One at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Now with Rangers in Scotland, the Anglo-Nigeria has made six appearances in the top-flight, with an additional nine in the Europa League. He has found the back of the net once in both competitions.

"Yeah, you could say so [that it is a step up from Sunderland]," Ejaria told Rangers TV .

"You're playing in Europe, in the Europa League which is a very high level so I'm really happy with the way it's going at the moment."

The U20 World Cup winner is set for another crucial outing with Rangers set to take on league leaders Hearts on Sunday afternoon.
