The Buccaneers will have to do without the two fan-favourites, who are set for an extended period on the sidelines

Orlando Pirates have been boosted by Marc Van Heerden's return from injury ahead of their PSL clash with SuperSport United at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.

However, Van Heerden's rival at left-back, Patrick Phungwayo is nursing an injury which he picked up against Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend.

Furthermore, Bucs wingers Thabo Rakhale and Thabo Qalinge are out of contention for any selection for a couple of weeks longer.

Pirates released the following statement on their official website on Monday.

"Left back Marc Van Heerden has returned to full training. The 28-year old has been given the green light by the Bucs medical team and will be available for selection for Tuesday night’s league encounter against SuperSport United.

"Van Heerden has missed Pirates’ last two matches due to a grade one muscle (quad) tear in the league defeat to Bidvest Wits.

"Meanwhile, Patrick Phungwayo will undergo further assessment with the medical team after suffering a slight knock in the 1-all draw against Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.

"Other players still on the mend include wingers Thabo Qalinge (back) and Thabo Rakhale (hamstring), who are still nursing their respective injuries.

"The duo are out of contention for any selection for a couple of weeks longer."
