Paul Udeh says he is eagerly looking forward to the resumption of the Nigeria Professional Football League with Lobi Stars after two months break.

Nigeria’s elite division had been on holiday since mid-June due to the 2018 World Cup and leadership crisis in Nigerian football that was resolved by government intervention on Monday.

With resumption reportedly set for September 2, the Pride of Benue defender is confident that his side are ready to hit the ground running and upbeat about the title-winning chances.

"It was a cheering news that Federal government through the vice president has intervened in the matter,” Udeh told Goal.

“I was happy we avoided being ban by Fifa. Honestly, I was worried about the situation with the way our league and we players already suffered in the last two months.

“It would have been tough for us as many solely rely on football for survival. We’ve been training for a long time now and wishing for nothing more than seeing the league resume soon. I hear it may be back in a week or two. I hope it happens. We just can’t wait.

“For us, we [Lobi Stars] are more determined to fight for the league title. It is important that we remain at the top of our game to finish as champions this season. It’s been a long journey for us and we will not relax with just 14 matches to go.”

Lobi Stars are league leaders with 43 points after 24 games and will be hoping to resume their league campaign against sixth-placed Niger Tornadoes.
