Patrice Motsepe instructs Sundowns management to finalize Percy Tau's Brighton & Hove Albion move

Mamelodi Sundowns have announced that president Patrice Motsepe has instructed the management to finalise Percy Tau's move to Brighton & Hove Albion as soon as possible.

In a statement released by the club on Monday evening, Sundowns revealed that Tau's agent Mmatsatsi Sefalafala apologized for disclosing confidential information to the media and for the player not reporting for pre-season training.

Two weeks ago, Sefalafala told Sunday Times how Sundowns had been playing hard ball even with a concrete Brighton offer in front them.

She revealed at the time that Sundowns rejected several offers from the Premier League side.

Sundowns were looking for transfer fee in the region of R71 million to part ways with their star attacker, and reports suggest that Brighton are willing to offer R65 million with add-ons.

However, the latest developments means that they move may finally be happening, especially now that Motsepe has finally decided to intervene.

Here's the statement as released by the Brazilians:

Mamelodi Sundowns is pleased to announce that the President of Mamelodi Sundowns Dr. Patrice Motsepe gave instructions to the Management to finalize the deal with Brighton & Hove Albion FC (Brighton) after Percy Tau and his agent came to see him and apologised for disclosing confidential information to the media and for Percy Tau not reporting for training.

This transfer saga saw Tau boycott Sundowns' training camp in Rustenburg, but whether or not the 24-year-old will return to training while the two clubs finalise the proposed deal remains to be seen.

Tau has won many trophies with Sundowns, including two league titles, the Caf Champions League and Caf Super Cup in recrnt seasons.

His contract with Sundowns is set to expire in June 2019, and the Tshwane giants are eager to cash in on him to avoid losing him for free next year, especially after he rejected a new contract offer.
