Ghana midfielder Ebenezer Ofori made his much-anticipated debut for Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart on Saturday at the Commerzbank Arena in a 2-1 defeat to 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt who had Kevin-Prince Boateng in their setup.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Reds from AIK Stockholm in Sweden last season, came on for DR Congo star Chadrac Akolo by the 81st minute.

Ofori played a key role in the club's qualification to the top-flight, making eight starts as Stuttgart won the Bundesliga II.

Ante Rebic opened the scoring for Frankfurt by the 42nd minute before Simon Terodde pulled level for Stuttgart on 61st minute. Although, Simon Falette saw red three minutes later, Sebestian Haller won the day for Frankfurt in additional time.

Ofori admitted his excitement after the encounter and believes his performance will improve in upcoming games.

“I am happy with my first game in the German top-flight. We lost but I'm hopeful that we will return to winning ways and make good impact in the league,” Ofori told Goal.

“I hope to have more opportunities to play regularly because I believe I can do more for the club. The coach has the final say so whenever he deems it right to field me, I'm ever ready to follow his instructions to make everyone happy,” he added.

Ofori was named as part of Ghana's 26-man provisional squad for the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Uganda on October 7.
