With the Magpies in disarray following a difficult summer, Al Hain-Cole expects Pellegrini's men to add to their pre-season excitement with a win

Steve Bruce will make his debut as Newcastle manager in Saturday's Premier League Asia Trophy third-place play-off against West Ham in Shanghai.

The former Sunderland manager will have to work hard in order to ingratiate himself to the supporters, having taken over from the hugely popular Rafa Benitez following the Spaniard's controversial departure.

Latest odds

Thrashed 4-0 by Wolves in the semi-final, his team is priced at 9/4 (3.25) with William Hill to provide a much needed morale boost by coming out on top at the Hongkou Stadium.

The Hammers were also on the wrong end of a heavy semi-final defeat as they lost 4-1 to Manchester City, but are even money (2.00) favourites to claim third place with a victory here.

None of the last nine encounters between this pair have resulted in draws, but you can get odds of 5/2 (3.50) on this one remaining all square after 90 minutes.

Team news

DeAndre Yedlin, Dwight Gayle and Sean Longstaff could be in contention after missing the semi-final, although Florian Lejeune is definitely out as he recovers from a serious knee injury. Miguel Almiron and Henri Saivet have not travelled due to international commitments.
Fabian Balbuena, Arthur Masuaku and new signing Pablo Fornals were all omitted from West Ham's tour squad after representing their respective countries at international tournaments this summer.

Having lost a manager they widely regarded as a hero and seen last season's two top scorers already depart, it is fair to say that the Toon Army have largely washed their hands of the club under the current ownership.

In contrast, West Ham supporters are already looking forward to the new season with some excitement after seeing record signing Sebastien Haller join the highly-rated Pablo Fornals at the London Stadium.

While that duo will not feature on Saturday, Manuel Pellegrini's men are already more than capable of adding to the optimistic mood by seeing off a team they beat 2-0 and 3-0 in last season's Premier League.

Indeed, even money (2.00) looks like excellent value on them compounding Newcastle's misery by coming out on top in Shanghai.
