Rwanda national team were held to a 1-1 draw by Namibia in an international friendly at the Jemmal Stadium in Tunis on Sunday.

Itamunua Keimune's second half striker cancelled out Savio Nshuti Dominque's opener for the 10-man Amavubi side as both sides shared the spoils.

Dominique put Rwanda in front in the 45th minute after he smartly beat goalkeeper Loyot Kazapua courtesy of a brilliant pass from Nshuti Innocent.

But Keimune netted Namibia's equaliser after he was left unmarked inside the goal area seven minutes into the resumption of the second half of the encounter.

Despite the sending off of Amran Nshimiyimana moments later, the Namibian forwards failed to utilise their numerical advantage as Antoine Hey's men held on to a draw.

In his post-match reaction, Rwanda's coach Hey admits his side's progress so far is according to plan as he described the draw with Namibia as a positive result.

“Drawing 1-1 is a positive result. Some of our players had not played so many matches before, so it was a good game for them,” Hey told Ferwafa website.

“I am very satisfied with the result and the match in general. I am very happy with the performance of Herve Rugwiro and Amran Nshimiyimana today (Sunday) and all in all it was good.

“Things are working according to our plan and let’s look forward. Now we have two more training sessions on Monday and Tuesday before we play Algeria on Wednesday.”

Hey's side will commence their African Nations Championship campaign against Nigeria in Tangier, Morocco on January 15.
