Milan v Roma Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Milan's Serie A meeting with Roma on Friday night promises to be a fascinating fixture looking for a top-four finish this season or even mounting a credible challenge for the Scudetto this season.

For the hosts, though, it was a bitterly disappointing start to the campaign as Milan surrendered a 2-0 lead and were beaten 3-2 by Napoli in their opening league match last weekend.

Roma defeated Torino away from home in their opening Serie A match of the season and they showed spirit in abundance as they battled back from 3-1 down to claim a thrilling 3-3 draw against Atalanta in the Italian capital on Monday night.

Latest odds

Gennaro Gattuso's charges are chalked up as 11/8 (2.38) favourites with bet365 to bounce back from their defeat to Carlo Ancelotti's charges with a win in their opening home match of the season.

Eusebio Di Francesco's men are available at 9/5 (2.80) with bet365 to claim back-to-back away wins, while the same firm go 5/2 (3.50) that the match ends in a draw.

Team news

Andrea Conti and Ivan Strinic are definitely out, while Cristian Zapata and Riccardo Montolivo are both doubtful after missing the opening match of the campaign.

Dutch striker Justin Kluivert - son of former Milan striker Patrick - could make his first start for Roma after coming off the bench in both of the opening two league matches for Di Francesco's outfit.

Defensive discipline?

It was something of a shock to see Roma ship three first half goals on Monday night, not least because Di Francesco's side had kept a clean sheet in five of their previous six matches in this competition.

Indeed, Roma have kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven Serie A matches away from home and can be backed at 11/4 (3.75) to keep Milan at bay, while the same firm go 4/1 (5.0) that Roma win without conceding.

Prediction

Both of these teams possess plenty of quality in attack, but their fragility at the back has been ruthlessly exploited already this season.

There is, then, a possibility of an explosive encounter when these teams meet and the 4/5 (1.80) quote on offer from bet365 that there are at least three goals scored when these teams meet could represent real value for punters.
