AC Milan continue to be linked with a move to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic back onto their books and the Rossoneri have been told by club legend Demetrio Albertini that they “should definitely sign him”.
At 37 years of age, the enigmatic Swedish striker is seeing a stunning return to Europe mooted after impressing in MLS with the LA Galaxy.
His exploits in America have convinced a number of suitors that he can still do a job at the highest level, with Milan said to have moved to the front of the queue for his signature after putting talks in place.
Ibrahimovic had initially sought to play down rumours of switch to San Siro, and various other landing spots, with it claimed that he would be looking to enter into contract discussions with the Galaxy.
Speculation regarding a deal with Milan is building, though, and Albertini believes an agreement would be beneficial to all concerned.
A man who spent 14 years of his senior career with the Rossoneri told reporters at an event organised to present the Gran Gala del Calcio: “I'd always want a player like Ibra in my team.
“I think AC Milan should definitely sign him.
“You always have more solutions when you have Ibra in your team.”
Any move to get Ibrahimovic on board will be led by a couple of Milan legends now working behind the scenes at San Siro.
Leonardo is currently sporting director with the Rossoneri, while Paolo Maldini is filling a sporting strategy and development director role.
“Maldini? I like to see him back in the world of football,” added Albertini.
“It was a pity to see him out. He is a winner and he will try to do something positive for the club.”
Milan are currently in the midst of another rebuilding project following a successful takeover by Elliott Management Corporation.
They are sat fifth in the Serie A table, but questions have been asked of Gennaro Gattuso’s management and talk of a possible move for former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has surfaced.
