Socceroos midfielder Massimo Luongo has received some huge praise from departed Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway, who believes the Australian has the ability to line-up for both Barcelona and Manchester City.

Luongo has just finished his third season with QPR, scoring six goals across 38 league appearances and earned an early mark from the club so he could recover before the World Cup.

Starting his career in Tottenham's youth academy, the now-25-year-old has established himself as a key player for QPR after making the move from Swindon Town in 2015.

With his club future subject to some speculation, Holloway, who himself left QPR at the end of the season, admits Luongo has the potential to go on to bigger and better things.

"I believe now that I have worked with him that he could play for Barcelona, I believe he could play for Man City," Holloway told beIN Sports.

"And we are not the same team without him.

"I honestly believe he is as good as a player I've ever had in my career so far."

Luongo was named QPR's player of the 2017/18 season by both the club and its supporters, with the Australian clearly thankful for the opportunities the club has given him.

"QPR is a great place to be," Luongo told beIN

"We are all getting put on display the best way that the manager can do and that is helping us."

The central midfielder was named in Australia's final 23-man World Cup squad and has 34 caps to date for the Socceroos.
