Manchester City v Southampton: Twelfth consecutive win for Premier League champions-elect

If there was any doubt about Manchester City being the strongest team in England, it was surely dispelled on Sunday afternoon in Huddersfield.

The Blues produced a battling comeback to record a 2-1 win at the Terriers and show there is plenty of fight in this team - as well as the beguiling artistry which has provided such entertainment for their supporters.

It was City's eleventh consecutive away win in the top flight which set a new Premier League record, with Pep Guardiola's side also racking up eleven straight league wins this term since their opening day draw with Everton.

Eight points clear at the top of the table and with five wins from five in the Champions League, City seem unstoppable and the gritty win at Huddersfield was the stuff of champions - which the blue half of Manchester are currently a staggering 1/9 (1.11) to become.

Southampton are the latest side to attempt to derail Guardiola's perfectly oiled machine, and Mauricio Pellegrino's men will have some confidence as they enjoyed their biggest win of the season on Sunday by beating Everton 4-1.

Before that victory, the Saints had only scored nine goals in 12 league matches and their troubles in front of goal are likely to continue at the Etihad.

Paddy Power offer a home win at 1/6 (1.17) while the visitors are priced at 17/1 (18.00) and the draw can be backed at 7/1 (8.00).

With six clean sheets in their last nine matches in all competitions at home, there must surely be some value in backing the hosts to enjoy another shut-out at 10/11 (1.91).

Southampton do not inspire much confidence going forward and there are likely to have precious little of the ball with which to cause City any problems; their last away game saw them beaten comfortably 3-0 at Anfield and opposing Pellegrino's side to get on the scoresheet on Wednesday makes sense.
