Lobi Stars return to Ijebu Ode for UMS de Loum clash

The reigning league and Super Cup champions have gone back to Ijebu Ode where they are expected to leave for Cameroon on Sunday

Super Cup champions, Lobi Stars have returned to Ijebu Ode to continue with the final preparations for their Caf Champions League Preliminary round first leg tie with UMS de Loum of Cameroon slated for Tuesday.

The Pride of Benue became Nigerian champions on Tuesday night at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba after they defeated Enugu Rangers 1-0 through Samad Kadiri’s first-half strike and they have gone back to Ijebu Ode where they spent the major part of their build-up for the lucrative club competition.

Solomon Ogbeide's men briefly left for Ekiti and Akure respectively where they played some test games.

Vice Chairman of the club, Mike Idoko stated that the players have returned to Ijebu Ode to look at the errors they noticed in the three cities they have visited including the game with Enugu Rangers and that they are expected to leave for Cameroon on Sunday ahead of the game on Tuesday.

“We have returned back to Ijebu Ode and we are optimistic that the team won’t disappoint Nigerians on the continent this term. We have learned from the mistakes of others and have had long pre-season activities enough to make us excel,” Idoko told Goal.

“We told the team to return to Ijebu Ode to enable the technical crew put finishing touches to their preparations for the continent and in the league also. We have assembled the best club of players that will help our cause.

“We hope to leave for Cameroon on Sunday because the game will be played on Tuesday. We know a little about our opponents and we have informed our coaches about it. We are praying that God crowns our effort after the effort we have put in with the preparations for the competition.”
