Lierse SK fans furious after Timbe transfer

Lierse SK fans are furious following decision by the club to sell Kenyan winger Ayub Timbe.

On Monday, the Belgium club confirmed through their official website that they had reached an agreement with Chinese second division side Beijing Renhe for the services of the influential winger. The decision has not gone down well with the club’s supporters, who have now demanded for the resignation of coach Eric Van Mier.

"If I were Eric Van Meir I would give my resignation immediately. He has put our team back on track, is thereby put in his shirt and basically ridiculed by a board must fill in a financial pit from the past," read one of the comments on facebook.

The fans also questioned the decision by Timbe to quit a top side in Belgium for a lower league in China "How in God's name a second division in China is an 'opportunity' for a player? When will Lierse come into its own hands again and out of the tentacles of our president?'' Lierse shame on you!”

Timbe became the second Kenyan player to cross over to the lucrative Chinese market after striker Michael Olunga, who joined Guizhou Zhicheng in the top flight from Swedish side Djurgadens IF in January.

A product of JMJ academy, Timbe made his international debut for Harambee Stars in a friendly against South Africa in 2012. He has since featured regularly for the national side.
