The Premier League champions have issued a public apology to the hosts of their pre-season tour following two controversial posts

Chelsea’s Kenedy was roundly booed by Chinese fans ahead of the Blues’ pre-season friendly against Arsenal in Beijing.

Chelsea not favourites to win PL

The 21-year-old left-sided player was jeered after the emergence of two videos on social media made by the Brazilian in which he appeared to criticise both the country and its culture.

One was captioned “F****** China”, while another of a sleeping security guard was tagged: “Wake up China. You idiot.”

Supporters were quick to leap upon the former Fluminense man, who was whistled as his name was announced over the public-address system when the teams were announced pre-match.

Meanwhile, Chelsea issued a statement in response to their players actions on Weibo.

The Blues said: “Chelsea Football Club is very sorry for the social media messages posted by Kenedy yesterday evening. This behaviour fell well below the very high standards we expect of our players. Kenedy regrets the posts and any upset they have caused and has apologised.
