Kaizer Chiefs striker Dumisani Zuma eyes more goals for the Soweto giants as they prepare to get back to their domestic commitments.

Zuma found the back of the net on Sunday as they defeated Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 in the Macufe Cup, and he hopes to score again when they meet Black Leopards in the Telkom Konockout this weekend.

“I think we came to this game aiming to do well. It is part of our preparations because we have a tough cup game next Sunday,” Zuma told SuperSport TV.

With the Soweto giants having endured a three-year trophy drought under former coach Steve Komphela, coach Giovanni Solinas and his men are now tasked with bringing back the glory days at Naturena.

According to the striker, he is aware of their responsibilities and hopes they will build up on their Macufe Cup win going forward to their encounter against Leopards.

“I am glad as a player that I managed to score after so long, but we will keep pushing and I hope we will bring more trophies or at least a trophy this season,” said the ex-Siwelele striker.

Apart from winning three consecutive PSL matches in September, Chiefs could not carry their momentum into the month of October.

They drew against 2017/18 National First Division (NFD) champions, Highlands Park at Makhulong Stadium and lost 1-0 to Polokwane City at an empty Moses Mabhida Stadium before the current Fifa international break.

However the nippy forward reckons the win over Phunya Sele Sele will bring back their groove as they look to lift a trophy or two this term.

“Yeah, I think the form and the confidence is coming back, it will start to grow and we will go to our games with motivation. We will try to win our games going forward,” he concluded.

In addition, the Soweto giants will want to dispatch Lidoda Duvha at the FNB Stadium on Sunday to reach the next stage of the competition.

Just after the Cup match, they will turn their focus to one of their biggest game on the PSL calendar as they lock horns with old rivals Orlando Pirates, in the Soweto derby five days later.
