Joseph Aidoo named Genk's POTM of October

Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo has been voted KRC Genk's best player of the month of October.

The 22-year-old joined the Belgian side in July from Swedish Allsvenskan club Hammarby and has returned to top form, having slightly looked a shadow of the player who was indisputably the best defender in Sweden.

The former Inter Allies captain played full throttle in a 1-1 stalemate against Royal Mouscron as well as scoring the only goal against Anderlecht. He was also in action in the 2-0 win over Club Brugge and the goalless draw against Kortrijk as the club climbed to sixth position on the log with 22 points.

He won the October accolade by a landslide after amassing 64 per cent of the vote by supporters and will succeed Siebe Schrijvers who won the award in August and September.

"I'm honoured with this award and will continue to do my best," Aidoo said.

"It is a testament that my performances have been appreciated by both the club's top hierarchy and supporters as well as my teammates. I hope to continue to do my possible best until the season ends," he ended.

Goal understands that Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is likely to hand Aidoo his maiden call-up next month as the Black Stars are billed to play a friendly game with a yet to be named European country.
