Indian Super League (ISL) franchise FC Pune City have signed Mehrajuddin Wadoo as head coach of their U-18 team for the upcoming season, Goal can confirm.
The Kashmiri player has had an illustrious career where he has turned out for some of the biggest clubs in Indian football, including both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
In the inaugural edition of ISL he turned out for Pune City and was a regular starter, making 14 appearances. Wadoo was one of the best right-backs in the second season of the ISL as he helped Chennaiyin FC win the coveted ISL trophy.
He last represented Mumbai City FC in the ISL.
"My contract with Mumbai City got over last season and I agreed to become the head coach of FC Pune City's U18 team," informed Wadoo to Goal. He also revealed, "I have already appeared for my A-License coaching certificate this summer."
The 34-year-old defender had an impressive international career as well. His most memorable moment would be the winning goal against Bangladesh in the SAFF Cup finals at Karachi in December 2005. He was also a member of the Indian squad that won Nehru Cup 2007, the AFC Challenge Cup 2008 and the Nehru Cup in 2009.
