FC Goa romped to a 3-1 win over defending champions Chennaiyin FC in their second Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Marina Arena on Saturday.

The result against the team that knocked the Gaurs out in the semi-final last season has taken them to the top of the league table. However, FC Goa head coach Sergio Lobera does not believe in revenge in football.

"I don't believe in revenge in football (for semi-final loss). We got three points but I don’t believe in revenge as such," said Lobera.

He added, "I think starting the season with two away games and four points, I’m happy. I try to get the best from my players. Today (Saturday) we achieved three points and we’re really happy."

The Spaniard refused to single out Ahmed Jahouh for praise. The Morrocan midfielder was influential in midfield and pulled the strings for the visitors.

"I think the work of the team makes players stand out. I’m happy about the result. We are an attacking side and we have proof of that on the field. I’m also happy because of the way in which we defended and we had good possession."

An added-time goal by Eli Sabia denied young goalie Mohammad Nawaz a clean sheet. The 18-year-old had come under fire for his blunder against NorthEast United that led to a goal.

"I’m not happy about not being able to keep a clean sheet because of the late goal and that is the only thing I’m disappointed about. Nawaz is only 18 years old and he needs confidence. One mistake is not going to make me change my mind on him," Lobera concluded.
