Steve Coppell’s Jamshedpur FC managed to finally break their home-ground hoodoo as they ended their goal drought at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in a 2-2 draw with Mumbai City FC.

Despite Jamshedpur netting their maiden home-goal of the season, a first win at the venue remained elusive for the Englishman and he lamented the referee’s decision to not award a penalty after a tackle on Trindade Goncalves in the opening minutes.

“Looking into the first half, we started strongly. We should have got a penalty in the first few minutes on Trindade. I couldn't believe it wasn't a penalty. We went 2-1 up but we knew Mumbai were dangerous. We needed to score in the first 20 minutes of the second half to provide the extra cushion. I feel sorry for the players that they gave so much but couldn't win. The pitch was better today,” he said at the post-match press-conference.

While a victory was not forthcoming on Friday, Coppell was delighted with the performance and went as far to say that it was the best attacking display shown by his side in their maiden campaign.

“This was our best match in terms of attacking football. Belfort (Kevin) and Trindade played well. The full backs went up. Anas coming back was definitely an advantage. This was our best performance. I think it was pleasing. We were looking for three points but unfortunately didn't get that,” Coppell explained.

Defender Anas Edathodika made his return from injury on Friday but Coppell said that the India stalwart is still not completely match-fit.

“Physically (he has recovered). But there is difference in running on the pitch and playing a competitive game. He did well but will get better and more match fit,” the Jamshedpur tactician stated.

Midfielder Mehtab Hossain was shown a fourth booking of the season in the 66th minute and will serve a one match-suspension.

“I really didn't consider that (Mehtab’s suspension). I knew he was on three yellows. We will consider that tomorrow morning,” he said before signing off.
