Ighalo gutted to miss Algeria, Argentina games

Odion Ighalo
The Eagles’ forward has expressed displeasure at his latest injury which rules him out of the Nigeria’s upcoming games

Changchun Yatai striker, Odion Ighalo says he is gutted to miss out on Nigeria's upcoming games against Algeria and Argentina.

The striker picked a knee injury in Sunday's Chinese Super League encounter against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan which ruled him out of the Super Eagles' upcoming World Cup qualifier and friendly against the Desert Foxes and Jorge Sampaoli's star-studded side respectively.

And the former Watford goal poacher is sad over his non-involvement.

“It is true I am out of the two games,” Ighalo told Goal. "I played the entire 90 minutes in our last home game despite sustaining a little knock earlier in the game.

"I wanted to help my team and it was the reason I put the pain aside and concentrated on helping my team to win the game. It is so painful that I won’t be able to make it for two matches.

“I so much desire to be in both matches. I had wanted to be part of the final celebration for our ticket to the World Cup against Algeria while the friendly match with Argentina would have afforded me the opportunity to face some of their top stars.

“I don’t expect to be out for long. I have been told I would need like 10 to 15 days of rest before I can start playing again. I will equally miss our final match of the season away to Beijing Guoan on Saturday,” he stated.

Red-hot Ighalo has scored 15 goals in 27 matches for Changchun Yatai in the CSL this season and his goals have taken the Chinese outfit to eighth in the league standings with 41 points from 29 games.
