Going on to make more than 200 appearances for his home-town club, the forward managed to score over 60 goals in the Nigerian Premier League.
The 30-year-old has also made four appearances for the Nigerian national team or the Super Eagles as they are called. One of the appearances came against Brazil in the 2013 Confederations Cup.
The Nigerian’s signature makes him the fourth foreigner in the Red and Golds squad for the season. Syrian attacking midfielder Mahmoud Al Amna was retained ahead of the start of the season before the club signed midfielder Kassim Aidara from I-League champions Minerva Punjab.
The club then secured the glamour signing of Costa Rican defender Jonny Acosta who played three matches for his side in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer. The veteran defender has started training with the club and is expected to feature in the derby against Mohun Bagan in the ongoing Calcutta Football League (CFL) which will be held on September 2.
Both the arch-rivals currently lie neck and neck in the CFL table after four matches with 10 points each. East Bengal are perched at the top of the table due to their superior goal difference (+8) compared to Bagan’s (+3).
