Homeboyz 1-1 Mathare United: Ochomo denies 'Slum Boys' win

Wycliffe Ochomo came off the bench to score for Kakamega Homeboyz in a 1-1 draw against visiting Mathare United on Saturday.

Chris Ochieng had given Mathare United the lead in 71st minute, a goal that could have temporarily lifted the 'Slum Boys' from the bottom of the table, but Ochomo cancelled the lead from the spot, nine minutes later.

Mathare are yet to post a positive result since their 1-0 win against former champions Gor Mahia on May18. The hosts got the game going with two quick corners in the early exchanges but Roy Okal cleared the danger before goalkeeper, Wycliffe Kasaya was forced to come off his line to save a cross from another corner.

Mathare United won their first corner in the 15th minute which Daniel Mwaura played a short ball to Ronald Reagan, but Moses Chikati rose higher above the attackers to clear the danger. Francis Kimanzi side came close to opening the scores after Chris Ochieng beat Moses Chikati down the right wing to lay off Mwaura whose strike went begging.

The game was temporarily stopped after Chripine Oduor went down injured but Mathare picked the rhythm after the resumption with two quick attacks. Mwaura found Chris Ochieng with a dipping cross behind the defenders but the latter’s acrobatic shot missed the target.

Ochieng gave Mathare the lead in the 71st minute with a powerful shot but substitute, Ochomo canceled the goal from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box.
