Has midfielder Ovella Ochieng’ fallen out with Kariobangi Sharks?

Ovella Ochieng’ is literally missing in action since the start of the year, a development that has increased speculation that the youngster has fallen out with his employer.

The 18 year-old Harambee Stars winger is yet to play for Kariobangi Sharks in the three league assignments this season. Neither has he been spotted in training at the club's Utalii grounds base over the past week.

Amid all this, Goal understands that the player is 'match fit'. “He might have had his head turned by a number of offers from outside the country which his club has refused to consider,” a source explained.

“Let's just say he wants a move so there could be a bit of a stand-off (between the club and player) and thus he is not in the right frame of mind to play at the moment.”

Ovella’s last competitive assignment was when he starred for the national team Harambee Stars during Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup triumph over Zanzibar in Machakos.

He netted the first goal of this match - via a stunning free-kick to lead Kenya towards the title.

The Upper High school alumnus has in recent times attended trials at top Sweden club IF Djurgarden and is believed to have also attracted interest from Belgium, Albania and South Africa.Hill

Efforts by Goal to get a comment from Sharks officials proved futile.
