Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne has insisted that Kenya can only fight with the rest of Africa with improved stadia facilities in the country.
The Frenchman, who is still unbeaten in the Afcon qualifiers with Kenya, says the country should invest heavily on stadia insisting that the current poor state has reached a worrying level.
“A good pitch is the main ingredient for good football but sadly we only have Kasarani. It is difficult to find a good pitch for training sessions and the Kenyan government and all stakeholders need to look into it.
“Perhaps we can look into constructing artificial pitches as a stop gap measure to provide solution to the crisis,” Migne told Goal.com in an interview.
Meanwhile, Migne says the 4-0 hammering of Gor Mahia by Everton goes to reflect the standards of the game in the country. K’Ogalo failed to march The Toffees in a friendly as they succumbed to two goals in either half.
“It was clearly a difficult match for Gor Mahia in every way but it helped show how much we need to do. The match helped us see the reality of where we are and any other result would have been deceitful.”
Migne however, said there are some positives to be drawn from the fixture and he is particularly happy that national team players picked some experience from the tour. “I am glad that none of my players were injured but that they picked some great experience from the tour.”
The Frenchman said he still expects to play Sierra Leone on November 18 and is focused on getting a good result to help Kenya qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.
