Guingamp forward Abdoul Camara has quit football because of the 'risk of cardiac arrest'.
The Guinea international has been out of action since December 2017 when he damaged the lateral collateral ligament of his knee in a Ligue 1 encounter against Troyes.
Last month, Guingamp announced that the former Derby County player will not okay for the club again for medical reasons.
While trying to return to regular football training, Camara was hit with the news of a heart problem that brings an end to his playing career.
"I can not go on because I'm at risk of cardiac arrest or dying on a lot like other players. We have to move on, even if it's hard to accept," Camara told Fotomercato.
"I've been waiting for the news for three weeks. It was very long. I was coming out of training. I tried to savor just in case. The doctor called me to tell me that it was not possible to continue.
"Yes, we can see it like that. It's the truth after all. But for me, today, it takes time to accept it. Since I was 13, my life is football. I had struggled to come back after my cruciate ligament injury. And there, you are told that you will never wear jerseys again.
"It's a bit difficult to hear. We will say that it is an evil for a good. But I have not yet digested. You can not digest that fast. I need time. "
Camara who played for France at the youth levels [u17, u18 and u21] before switching allegiance to his country birth - Guinea, has now shifted focus 'to discover other sides of football'.
"I want to discover other sides of football. I have old coaches that I had who called me. Presidents have called me too. Maybe I'll go by their side to learn, and one day I'll really know what I want to do," he concluded.
