Go Round's Akinwale Ogunjobi relieved after Sunshine Stars win

The Omoku Boys brushed aside the Owena Whales over the weekend and the defender is delighted with their return to winning ways

Go Round's Akinwale Ogunjobi says his side's narrow 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars was a huge boost in their push to come out of the relegation zone.

Okon Otop's 34th-minute header was all Elechi Ngozi's men required to subdue the Owena Whales to pick their first win in four matches in a row.

And the defender is delighted with his team's performance and he believes they can build on the confidence gained from their latest home win.

"It was a very tough game for us but was a great relief we won in the end," Ogunjobi told Goal.

"It was also a huge boost in our fight to move out of relegation. We knew Sunshine Stars would be a difficult side to play considering the quality and experienced players they have.

"They gave us a tough time and troubled us on several occasions but immediately we got our goal, we really fought hard to defend it.

"At some point during the game, we were praying for the match to end because of the tension and the way things were going but we were determined to win.

“It was a great team performance from us. I must give kudos to my teammates for their fighting spirit and the fans too for supporting us.

“It was an important win for us and I am hoping we would keep up our form and do better to get results away from home. I believe anything is possible if we continue to give our best.”
