After securing 2019 African Cup of Nations slot with a draw against South Africa, the Super Eagles begin preparations for the finals with the tuneup clash against the Cranes at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
And the German tactician is set to rest some of his key players, with goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa who kept Saturday's game to sit out the entire tie as other two goalkeepers Theophilus Afelokhai Daniel Akpeyi are set for action.
Rohr also addressed the issue of Nigeria Professional Football League players within his ranks, offering hope with his comments.
“We have two goalkeepers who didn’t play against South Africa, we’ll make about six changes because we want to see everyone,” Rohr told the media.
“I can confirm to you that the remaining Nigeria Professional Football League players will have their chance against Uganda with Ikechukwu Ezenwa having his chance against South Africa.
“Theophilus Afelokhai and Daniel Akpeyi will be our goalkeepers for the first and second half against Uganda while [Olamilekan] Adeleye will also play. I have said Nigerian league players are part of my programme but with the league not on now, it is a difficult decision for me to pick them.
“I have sent my coaches to fish out talents from the league and they have been given me feedback. We want the best for Nigeria and we will pick the best for the team not minding where they play.
“It was a great game in Johannesburg because we still achieved our target without four to five of our regular players. We lost [Abdullahi] Shehu, [Francis] Uzoho, [Wilfred] Ndidi, and [Odion] Ighalo to injuries and suspension but those that took their place played very well and we didn’t really miss those that were absent.”
Nigeria's last encounter with their visitors ended in a 1-0 home defeat, coinciding with former skipper Vincent Enyeama's 100th cap.
