Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala says that Kenya will one day qualify for the Fifa World Cup.

“Football inspires us and I believe that one day, Kenya will be there. It is every Kenyan dream to one day watch their team take part in the World Cup and such are the moments that inspire us to promote football.

“I know that one day Kenya will own this trophy, if not host the World Cup. I know it’s a tall order, but Kenya is a land of possibilities. One day we’ll get there.”

Balala, who was in charge of the Sports Ministry between 2003 and 2004, spoke after landing at JKIA from Ethiopia, where he accompanied the Fifa World Cup Trophy that arrived in the country on Monday for its two-day tour.

President Uhuru Kenyatta will receive the 18-karat gold trophy at State House on Monday before public viewing set to take place at the Kenyatta Convention Centre on Tuesday.

The trophy is on its longest tour of the World as it snakes to Russia that will host the World Cup tournament from June 14 to July 15.
